New City Population Estimates Show Growth for Most KC Metro Cities
by Jeff Pinkerton
The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2012 population estimates for cities last week. Most large cities in the Kansas City metro have experienced modest growth since 2010. Kansas City, Mo. , far and away the region’s largest city, added more than 3,500 new residents and now has a total population of 464,310. Overland Park, the region’s second-largest city, saw the largest numeric growth, adding 4,809 new residents. Olathe had the largest percentage growth for cities with at least 20,000 residents at just over 3 percent.
The table below shows the data for the metro cities with at least 20,000 people as of 2012. Data for all cities is available on our metrodataline website.
