Business Services and Hospitality Lead the Way in KC Job Creation

October 22, 2013

by Jeff Pinkerton

With the government shutdown now over, data is flowing once again. Today we are looking at August-to-August employment growth for the area.  Once again, the Leisure and Hospitality and Business Service sectors are leading the way in job creation. Leisure and Hospitality gained 5,800 jobs while Professional and Business Services added 5,700. Buoyed by a resurgent housing market, Construction added 2,600 net new jobs for its best year-over-year performance since before the recession.

Job losses were most pronounced in Retail (-3,200) and Government (-1,800).
